Hi,
rvelices has implemented a new feature in Piwigo administration for version 2.6 [Bugtracker] ticket 2916. The idea is to replace the Raphael (javascript+SVG) icons by font icons (CSS+SVG). A first version was commited on [Subversion] r23029. In addition to technical changes, rvelices has also added some icons. Here is a screenshot.
Here is my first feedback:
* it's really nice, that's a real usability improvement
* icons are a bit blurry (because too small I think) on Linux desktop (see screenshot). With font-size:14px (instead of 13px) I find it better.
* the menu is a bit visually broken with dark colors
* icons are fine on MacBookPro
* icons are just perfect on iPad
* the "users" icon is not very good, I'll try to find another one in fontello
* good idea to have icons for level 2 menu item, but either we have icons for all items, or none (ok for no icon on plugins) => I can work on it
* good idea to have icons on tabs, but either we have icons for all, or none => I can work on it
* on [Albums > Manage], it would be good to also have icons for each link (Edit|sub-albums|delete) => I can work on it
* icons for header/footer would be good too => I can work on it
* the caddie icon should be the flag (as on Elegant 2.5), but I should make a deeper renaming for this
* the "language" icon is funny, but I don't understand it ;-)

It's supposed to be the "deaf language sign" (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Sign_Language)

Hi
Just on the principle: for me that's ok to not have icons everywhere (tabs and submenu). I prefer no icon, than an not understandable one
Thx to rvelices ^^ The interface is more eye-catchy

well seen (we need to re-include Photos in a span)

btw, I would find icons very useful in the batch manager select actions because it is always cumbersome to find the good one in the list. also because some are very very destructive, I always have to double check.
The problem is we are dealing with a select/option and also what Icon should we put in ?

I'm not sure to understand what you mean, but as far as I remember, we can't have HTML as options in a select.
Maybe we should also use jquery.chosen to have an autocompletion on the action list.

I commited [Subversion] r23055 to show how we can add icons without changing everything. Obviously we will need 2 icons for "add tags" "remove tags" and we cannot apply two classes icon-x1 and icon-x2, but if you find it useful I can work on it ...
