Hi,
I do my upgrade by downloading the latest version and unzip the newly downloaded file on top of the previous version and ensure I overwrite all files.
Everything is fine.
However on the admin page, I always got the message "A new version of Piwigo is available."
But when I click on "Check for upgrade" or "admin.php?action=check_upgrade", I got "You are running Piwigo latest version."
And when I click on the message "A new version of Piwigo is available." or "/admin.php?page=updates", I got "You are running Piwigo latest version."
I narrow down the issue to the javascript call by the "intro.tpl"
"ws.php?method=pwg.extensions.checkUpdates&format=json"
This return the following json:
{"stat":"ok","result":{"piwigo_need_update":true,"ext_need_update":true}}
As "piwigo_need_update" is set to true, the message "A new version of Piwigo is available." show up.
I did not see any sent header that include the version.
Any hints?

check rights to write in your www directory for your www user - have the same issue
I know Piwigo has such a bug, when you follow the manul upgrade procedure.
I will check this pwg.extensions.checkUpdates to see why it still returns "piwigo_need_update":true (while it should not), certainly a cache issue.
For now, the solution I give is to log out + log back in.

Thanks, I confirm, log out + log back in solve the issue.

Will be fixed in Piwigo 2.9 ;-)
