I found today that if piwigo gallery administrator closes access to the originals of the photos according to documentation by:

a) $conf['original_url_protection'] = 'all'; - in local config
b) deny access to /upload/ and /galleries/ by http-server settings

the jquery.panoramas extension doesn't work at all because it uses the path to the original file (this could be seen by any debugging tool in the browser).

The reason for closing access to the originals is to avoid access to non-watermarked images.

Is it correct understanding of the problem and if yes is there any workaround available?

This is probably another reason to implement per image and per albun watermarking, it could be switched off for panoramical images in this case, for the moment it's not possible.
