Piwigo stopped working after recent MariaDB update

Hi,
My site stopped working and had a vague mysql error message.  Rather that go over what did not work, I will explain how I solved the problem just in case someone else has a problem with MariaDB.  I purged MariaDB and did a fresh install, but that was not sufficient.

The solution was given here:  https://stackoverflow.com/questions/780 … please-rep

Just remove the line "character-set-collations = utf8mb4=uca1400_ai_ci" from /etc/mysql/mariadb.conf.d/50-server.cnf

I simple used nano and added an # at the start of that line.

My Piwigo site returned to normal after I restarted MariaDB.

I'll now proceed to upgrade to Piwigo 14.3.0

Re: Piwigo stopped working after recent MariaDB update

Just so that others can find this: the message probably was

"Server sent charset (0) unknown to the client. Please, report to the developers"

and this may happen with the MariaDB 11.3.2 default installation.
