This is something that just started happening. I can upload photos using Ploader but cannot upload photos from the admin page.
The photos actually do upload to the correct album and are viewable, but no thumbnails are created. Using the browser uploader I get this error:
Warning: filesize() [function.filesize]: stat failed for ././upload/2012/05/31/thumbnail/TN-20120531143326-05bb15b1.jpg in /homepages/23/d275617611/htdocs/northwestscenescapesnet/gallery/admin/include/image.class.php on line 268

Using the flash uploader the photos are there but no thumbnail is created. I do not get the error either. Using Piwigo 2.3.4. All plugins are updated. Like I said this just started happening. I hadn't added any photos for a couple of weeks until today, but everything had worked fine before. The image is only 146k.

on admin home
what Graphics Library use you ?

It shows this, but I'm not sure when or how that got there. I've never installed it.
Graphics Library: External ImageMagick 6.6.0-4
It's not something I've noticed before.

Can you test
1/ Go too Administration -> Plugins -> Manage
active [extension by Piwigo Team] LocalFiles Editor
2/ Go too Administration -> Plugins -> localfileditor -> tab 'local'
paste
$conf['graphics_library'] = 'gd';

Thanks a million! That worked great! Absolutely no problem uploading with either flash or browser uploader.

what your hosting ?

Can you tell us what your web hosting provider is? I'm 96% sure you're on 1and1, but please confirm.
It seems we have a problem with ImageMagick 6.6.0-4 (which is the version provided with the current stable version of Debian, the most popular Linux distro on web servers). We have it on piwigo.org server and we don't meet any specific problem.
Maybe it's a problem of ImageMagick 6.6.0-4 + specific photos. Can you send me a photo by email on "plg" (same domain name as this website) ?

Yes it's 1and1. Linux hosting.
I have to run out for a little while but will send you the photo I had troubles uploading as soon as I get home.
Thanks for the help!

I emailed you the photo I was having issues with. Let me know if you got it alright.

I tried your 116KB photo 900x615 pixels and I met no problem :-/

Okay, thanks. Well today I can upload it with no problems but anything over 2 megs I get errors. I don't have access to the php.ini file on the server and the one I wrote (which previously fixed the issue) doesn't work now. 1and1 must have done something or whatever. It sort of renders Piwigo useless at this point as far as uploading through the admin page. Not the fault of Piwigo. Definitely still useable just not quite as convenient to upload photos.
I have another hosting company and just chatted with them about accessing the php.ini file and they do allow editing that and they told me that I shouldn't have any issues using Piwigo and uploading from the admin page so I think I'm going to move my gallery there if I don't run into the issues of the database not importing correctly. This host uses the GD graphics package as well as ImageMagik so it seems I shouldn't have any major issues once it's transferred.

If you want to use ImageMagick on 1and1, you must insert this line in you local configuration file:
putenv('MAGICK_THREAD_LIMIT=1');

Thanks P@t. Not sure which graphics library I should use.
I'm still having issues with uploading. I've tried on 3 hosts (1and1, IPage, and piwigo.com). Varying sorts of issues uploading on all 3. It's totally frustrating. But I've come to the conclusion either it's a configuration issue on two of the hosts, or an issue somewhere on my ISP or my own computer and doubt I'll ever figure it out. Plg tried to duplicate the issue I had on piwigo.com but had no problems using my account.
I see no reason to quit using piwigo just because of upload issues so I guess I'll just use PLoader to do any hi-resolution uploads since I've never had any problems with it. for lower-res photos (less than 2 megs) I can use the admin panel in piwigo.
Would like to thank everyone who has tried to help me solve this issue.
