It synchronised, but still the same problem :/

OK now I am totally confused - New Domain - New Database - and the same error
The new site also reports:
■In your php.ini file, the upload_max_filesize (20MB) is bigger than post_max_size (8MB), you should change this setting
Seems I am not destined to have thios new site version :(

this is only due to the server config : so if it's the same hoster ... contact him !

The php.ini error - did you remember to put the modified php.ini in the in the new piwigo directory?
load of files like this in the /upload/buffer folder
i don't have one a buffer folder in my uploads directory - not sure what it's for - maybe a developer could enlighten us.
OK, so if you have a new install with a new database and new domain and it is still not working, the only common denominator is the server (I assume then new domain/instal is on the same server as the first).
Is it possible you could do this
- export the database in phpmyadmin (as a csv or sql file)
- download your COMPLETE piwigo folder (the new one on the new domain - it will have the least number of photos etc), and then zip it up
- upload the sql file and the zipped piwigo directory to the site I gave you earlier
I will then upload the whole configuration to my server. That way we have a complete direct copy of your installation on a different server and we can see what happens. - that is of course if you'd lke to try that to determine once and for all where the problem is and if it is the server you have the evidence to overcome the usual - not our problem mate.

Hi flop, I am a reseller for this company, and they are one of the biggest in the UK so it shouldnt be a problem - I will drop them a technical request but what exactly am I experiencing here? Is it a limitation on the upload size/time?
Pewe, how about if I switch the server from LINUX to Windows Hosting? Do you think that will have any impact? I will set it ion motion now, it usually takes a few hours to change everything over - I will go from there THEN send the files if that does not work :)
Cheers guys

Not sure - it's been a long time since I had anything hosted on a windows server.

When you're ready - no problem.
Flop: What is the buffer directory and when is it created - I dont have one in any of my 3 installs,
AND
have you seen these 'block' files before - what are they??
Offline
the files fichiers upload/buffer/*.block are created for pictures added through the Api, used by plugins for software or ploader
If they are still present, it's a bad sign : theses blocks was not merged into the final picture and destroyed

Thanks for the explanation flop ;-)
skp - have you at some time used uploaders other than the 'Add' in the admin panel? I guess you must have but was that before or after upgrade to 2.4

ok guys, this may help
I have just switched the new test site over to Windows 2008 hosting and the missing thumbnail is shown without me having to do anything!
This is the URL:
http://kakesbykate.co.uk/index.php
So, the issue seems to be something in LINUX that is stopping the uploads on both systems
It may be easier for me just to tranfer my website to Windows Server and see if that sorts the problem :-)
Are there any drawbacks to having it hosted on a Windows Platform?
Thanks for all your help guys, I feel like we may be closing in on this problem!

So that tends to confirm that there is something about the linux config which is causing the problem.
Out of interest (not sure what difference this makes) but this is my config.
Operating system: Linux
PHP: 5.3.10 (Show info) [2012-07-06 19:58:33]
mysql: 5.1.63-cll [2012-07-06 13:58:33]
Graphics Library: External ImageMagick 6.2.8
I'm suprised that Fasthosts is not bang up to date.
From what Flop explained, the .block files seem to be leftover temp files from Ploader.
Try deleting them - they may be the reason that some files are not uplading, it may be that they are leftover attempts at uploading them - probably off the wall - but worth a try??
The exif errors seem to imply that exif is not on (or a problem) in windows server.

I have no plugins activated right now. There are 5 that are installed, but not activated. They are: Additional Pages, Check Upgrades, Language Switch, LocalFiles Editor, and Multi View. I have tried the photos on a version 2.3.3 site, and they work perfectly. I have uploaded larger files, and they work fine. I have tried to use pLoader and the Piwigo upload page. I used Softaculous to install Piwigo. It was through my host. Piwigo's version was 2.4.1. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Piwigo, and it never has worked.
I have had a Piwigo site loaded for a year or so now. This is another site I'm trying to load up. If there are any versions, files, or anything needed to help solve this problem...I'd be happy to help. It sounds like its happening to some other users. Perhaps Softaculous is causing a problem with the install?
I would be happy to send you files, to help. (I need to go to work, first, though....agh)
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!
I am from the Softaculous team.
If you feel this is a softaculous error, please email our support team :

I have deleted all the garbage files, they are not being recreated but everything is still the same :/
Could it be this 8mb MAX File SIze issue thats causing the issues even thougn some of the files are only 2Mb?
I have emailed Fasthosts with an explanation of where we are upto with Linux & Windows, I will keep you guys posted
Any of the coders want access to the site, just let me know :)

OK, I hope this helps - it is a response from Fasthosts about this error
Thank you for your e-mail.
Checking the URL you have supplied, the picture error does not appear to be fault of the server. When checking, I used gallery item:
http://www.freezinglifethroughthelens.c … category/1
The properties of the missing image that /i.php is trying to pass is:
upload/2012/07/09/20120709111337-ec8f762e-me.jpg
However, if you check your FTP space, the image does not have that name. If you check in the folder in the path above, the only image is:
upload/2012/07/09/20120709111337-ec8f762e.jpg
Comparing the two, you can see that file your script is looking for should have '-me' in it. As the image cannot be found, the placeholder errors and if you try go to the location the script is trying to access, it gives a 500 error because the path is invalid.
As the file name is being applied by the facility you are using to upload, I cannot say specifically what is causing the addition of the '-me'. While I understand this works in older / alternate platforms, I cannot audit your scripting to determine what server side difference is causing this as I do not know what your system is dependent upon from a server-side standpoint.
If you have any further questions or checks you would like me to make, please reply to this e-mail.
Thanks again for contacting us.
