Hello,
I am unable to upgrade my piwigo install. it keeps giving me errors back advising that i have my permissions wrong. Now i'm pretty savy with my ubuntu installation. However even changing permissions for all web files to 777 will not allow me to update my install. This also possibly suggests a php permission but i do not want to touch the php settings. I have wordpress installs as well on the same server and they have no issues updating. below are the errors i am getting. everything is up to date on the server.

Hi,
I have the same issue upgrading from 2.3.1 on Mint 14.
Regards,
Philippe
Hi,
First, it seems you are using Piwigo with Php 5.4 (take a look to your host configuration to verify) and Piwigo is not fully qualified for this Php version. At this time, Piwigo is qualified for Php 5.3.
That causes the "Strict Standards: Non-static method" warning. It's only a warning and not an error and should not block the upgrade / installation process.
But you've a second set of warning messages: "Warning: touch(): Utime failed:". Please apply plg's solution (find here : http://piwigo.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p … 72#p131272) and retry gallery update.

Hi and thanks for your answer.
Note: I know very little about php.
I notice that my local/config/config.inc.php does not have a ?> terminator.
I tried adding to the end of the file
1)
<?php
$conf['template_combine_files'] = false;
?>
as well as
2)
$conf['template_combine_files'] = false;
... then restart apache.
In both cases I get the same errors and no longer can use the server as I get a new error when I reload:
Fatal error: Smarty error: [in mainpage_categories.tpl line 1]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'html_style' (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 590) in /usr/share/php/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1093
I can recover with a re-install though.
Any idea ?
Regards.
Philippe
Is this the whole message? This error is characteristic of an Piwigo 2.3 using files of 2.4
you should resend all files through FTP

Hi,
I have been installing through Ubuntu Synaptic Manager. Re-installing does get me back to 2.3.1 OK. but I still cannot upgrade.
Regards,
Philippe
Don't use that manager, but download the last package from here

OK, Just copied the newly release of 2.5.0 over and it seems to be ok (except that it says there is an update and when I go for it it says I have the latest) ... happy :)
Thanks.
Philippe
BTW. where should I push this question ?
I have installed the map pluggin. It works great at the picture level (select picture then location) ... but gives me a 404 on /piwigo/map.php at the top level.

Philippe

Post this question on a new topic in the "Extensions" forum.
