waiting the mails of Eric for some more tests
Here I am ! And my tests results (tested from a local phpmailer installation):
Thunderbird (24.0): ok
Zimbra (7.2.0): ok
Horde (4.3.11): Unable to get the html part. Only plain text.
Roudcube (0.9.3): ok (with a nice the header)
Squirrel (1.4.22): Only plain text is detected but opening the html attachment is ok
Gmail : Nok. It seems that css is not readed.
Sending you my adresses for testing from your phpmailer (I could have made some configuration mistakes...)

the inline CSS, that's what Emogrifier is for, and it will be implemented in Piwigo before passing the mail to PHPmailer (we already have a function named move_ccs_rules_to_body but not enough powerfull, Emogrifier uses a DOM object so is compatible with complex CSS selectors)

Ok, I´ll wait for. Thanks.
First step done (sorry for the delay), see [Subversion] r24951. I have tested with and without SMTP (on gandi.net SSL and gmail SSL) and it works fine.
There is still work to do on "email backend" but I think we can integrate the new mail template/themes now (and simplify pwg_mail function a bit more)
