Several ways to add your photos in your gallery:

Direct upload inside your web browser is the simplest and most immediate way. It depends on your browser capabilities and your web server. For a huge quantity of photos or in case you encounter some problem, the other methods are just waiting for you!
Go to Direct Upload

pLoader is a desktop application, to be installed on your computer. Drag & drop photos into pLoader window, click on "Upload to Piwigo" and let pLoader do the job. You can find other desktop applications such as WinToPiwigo or the Digikam export plugin to Piwigo.

FTP transfer is the most recommended way to add a very large collection of photos with a minimum number of clicks. Follow the guide to prepare your photos. The FTP method let you control precisely the physical organization of your photos on your server.

I may not have made myself clear.

If I'm in Tools>Site Manager and click Help I expect information related to managing my site not about uploading.

And no matter in what part of the administration panel I'm in, when I click help I get the information on uploading which I pasted in the original post.

I can send screenshots, but I think it's the steps that are important.

There is a ? icon to give related help content; but unfortunatly dev are not updating it when they change the admin pages...
Feel free to contribute to improve them and our Doc

That is beyond my capabilities. Although I wish I did know how.

But since the ? Help is mostly broken, could it be changed to point to something more helpful? Unfortunately at this point I don't even know what that is — a FAQ, a Wiki? I always resort to your Google search, I haven't found anything else, and the answers are almost always in the forum.

The Help link gives right generic information as first basic explanations
The ? icon open a popup with more detailed help but not so up to date.
You can very easily help us :-) just send a message to ddtddt or post on the translation forum :we have a website where any text can be translated directly
