I wish to add 4 custom links to the menu section.

When I modify the menu template for the Smart Pocket theme the entire menu vanishes.  Using the template-extension folder and the template replacement page I copied menubar_menu.tpl from the default directory into the extensions folder, edited it to add menu items, and bound to the Sylvia theme.  This works fine.

If I don't bind it to a theme the Smart Pocket theme does not display properly at all.

I've tried a few things, such as copying the Smart Pocket theme's menu template without modification but no matter what I do the whole menu section simply vanishes from my iPhone if I attempt to override the default menu template - but, only for the Smart Pocket theme.
