.NEF files support
Hello,
I'm looking for a way to see my NEF (Nikon raw files) in Piwigo.
I looked at some old messages (like this one https://piwigo.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=23741)
and i wounder if there are any news about this.

PHP version: 5.5.9-1ubuntu4.29

I don't foresee browsers supporting proprietary camera formats anytime soon. Even if they did, the rendering would be painfully slow.

Recently I've worked on this topic. I've written a piece of code to extract a JPEG file embedded in the RAW file. I used exiftool for this task. I've made the test with ARW files (Sony, I think), but it should work for CR2/NEF files too.
It's not mature code yet (not heavily tested) but I could write a plugin to embed it.

I just found this post and made a forum account to, first, say thank you for all your work and development of an amazing open-source web gallery! But second, I would very much love the feature of raw file viewing using the embedded JPEG if there has been any further development :)
