Hello Piwigo community,

Year 2020 has been "complicated", to say the least. While the world was partly locking down due to a pandemic, we've been very busy to prepare this new major version of Piwigo!

Seen as our improvements and redesigns are so numerous, we've decided to change our versionning system! After the 2.10 version introduced a new design for a few of the administration pages, this version 11 implements a new design on many other pages. Piwigo 11 also brings new features, for both the admin and the gallery side, such as an album search tool, an activity chart or related albums.

Get ready for pleasant surprises! Happy update and take good care :-)

Thanks for all the teams work on keeping Piwigo active and up to date.

When I came to update I had a number of plugins that were not yet compatible , so I will wait a while and see if the plugins are upgraded.

Update to Piwigo 11.0.0
Following plugins may not be compatible with the new version of Piwigo:

Showcase Register
rightClick
gdThumb
Statistics
BBCode Bar
Automatic Size
RV sitemap

For me Automatic sizes and right click are very important. A sightmap is fairly important. The others were less important and some not active anyway.

For future updates, I think the areas that would most benefit my particular piwigo use would be the ability to set which version of an image is Cannonical, in my case I would like to have it set as within an album and not just an image on its own. Also anything which improves search engine visibility would be very good although anything which changes URLs would be catastrophic to existing installations.

@Jonathan - some themes are responsive, and you don't need the Automatic Size plugin.

Yes, that's the problem with software having plugins: we do as much as we can to have them compatible with the new version, but we can't wait for them to be all compatible to release the new version (or you would wait forever)

While on a screen having "previous" and "next" links, I am getting "infinite loop?" message.
I am running on Linux, PHP 7.4.14, MySQL 5.5.62 with InnoDB engine.
I do not have this issue on a Windows server, PHP.4.9 and MySQL 5.7.28.

Yes, its absolutely right to release the upgrade and let plug ins catch up.

Executive has already solved the biggest problem for me in that I probably don't need " Automatic Size ".

I'm looking forward to doing the upgrade soon, thanks for everybody work on this :o)

Darn, it lists about every plugin I use as not compatible.. so, postponing the upgrade until more spare time.

Thanks a lot for all the good work and promising new features in PWG 11!

However, I will also wait for my plugins to be available because those offer essential functionality to my galleries.

Out of the plugins that not are available in v11, the bold ones are very important to me:

VideoJS
Rotate Image
rightClick
EasyRotate
SmartAlbums
Fotorama
RV Menu Tree
GThumb+
jplayer
Preload

Also, the new PWG 11 feature of album search would be nice if available to all users and not only admins. :-)

So you actually went from 2.10 to 11.0?

But it is really 2.11? No? It is just soo confusing when we are expecting a 2.11 and the you decide to just name it 11.

To be honest I first thought your announcement tech had been hijacked sending out spam.

Being a bit of a versioning purist am am quite surprised, but I have seen worse. :)

one album upgraded and works after reactivating... some plugin updates, like Community, are only available after the update... which is as expected.

Going to wait a bit with my two bigger albums...
