Basic directory permissions for Piwigo

Hi,

I just installed Piwigo on our server following the instructions found here:
https://www.piwigo.org/guides/install/manual

It worked ok, but I did run into a few problems due to directory permissions that had to be changed. I followed the guidelines in the old thread found here https://piwigo.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=17684 but had to mess around since the structure has changed since this thread was published.

At this point, I decided to come here and ask for help because I now have a new error message (this time trying to upload pictures to an album after establishing a successful connection) and suspect it has to do again with some permission in the directory structure.

Could someone publish an updated list of all the directory permissions that have to be changed for Piwigo to work properly? ...this info could also be included in the installation manual.

Thanks a lot!

Re: Basic directory permissions for Piwigo

I didn't change any. I just unzipped, ran the installer, and it all works.

Re: Basic directory permissions for Piwigo

The list given in the topic you mentioned is still current if you take the last post into account as well.

Once installed, the effective user the webserver runs as needs write permissions in and under

_data/

upload/

local/
some plugins may create files and directories thereunder

plugins/
if you want to install/delete plugins from within Piwigo

themes/
if you want to install/delete themes from within Piwigo

For all other directories read permissions are sufficient, but will need write permissions for an upgrade from within Piwigo.
