12.0 beta 1

Hi,

I truly don't know if this is something that belongs under the beta version or not, this is an old problem (see https://piwigo.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=29002) which make it unpractical for me to use Piwigo. In short, the problem is that the hosting company uses some load balancing stuff that results in URLs that doesn't work.

I was hoping that v12 would have some changes that would it work but it's the same problem. Piwigo is the only app I've used that have this problem.

You can see the problem from the welcome message

Link: https://bilder.mostrom.eu:80/

In other words, despite using https I get a port number of 80. This causes problems with update messages etc but more importantly uploading of images "fail". This means that the first message is uploaded but the UI stalls after that. The image can be viewed, but if I try to upload many images it fails after the first one.

I don't know if something can be done about this from Piwigo side.

Re: 12.0 beta 1

https and :80 can't be used simultaneously…

I only see https. Most browers auto-upgrade to https these days.

Not a piwigo problem, and if your URL:s get mangled it has to do with the server setup. Just turn off port 80 completely.

Yep, as I said it has to something to do with how their load balancing work interact with piwigo (I haven't seen this problem with for example DokuWiki or WordPress). And it has gotten better with the last two major releases of Piwigo. Before then It was problem even to log in, now I can do everything except uploading photos (+ those faulty links in emails). And I don't think I have any control of ports (shared hosting).

Re: 12.0 beta 1

Try if one of the workarounds in [Github] Piwigo issue #681 or [Github] Piwigo issue #982 helps.

I tried those a few years back, and they didn't work (I don't remember the reason why they didn't work, I use the same provider as 'dregad'). But I will try again and see if works now.
