Change piwigo location/directory

Hey all-
I installed piwigo on my server to test it, mydomain.com/piwigotest.
I love it!
Now I want to move it to my main pictures link, mydomain.com/pictures and replace the Coppermine albums I have used for a dozen years.
I searched, and the only old thing I kept finding over and over is:

Administration > Tools > Site manager

Admin>tools>site manager does not appear to be around any longer.

Can someone point me to the proper ‘tutorial’?

Thanks for any help!

Re: Change piwigo location/directory

Doesn't renaming the directory work?
It worked for me (both on my production and my test server).
I installed Piwigo in "piwigo" subdirectory first then I changed its name to "gallery" and it didn't explode :o

i did NOT try that, even though i thought it would work. i did not know how databases would be impacted by something like that. I will try that tomorrow when i have time, in case i need to restore 50GB of online photos :)
thanks!

Re: Change piwigo location/directory

I tried simply renaming the directories, and it worked, a lot. but not quite entirely.
i can view the albums, but when i try to do anything as the admin, it only loads the admin home page. the URL changes to what i want, but it only shows the admin home page. i attached a screenshot.

thanks for any help!

Re: Change piwigo location/directory

What should page=configurationcat_list even be? For unknown queries the main admin.php page Dashboard is shown. page=configuration or page=cat_list would be valid queries.

to answer your question, it should be manage the albums.

no matter what i click in the admin section, the page never changes, but the url does.
this url should be to update themes, but it only loads the same screen as the image in my above post.
/admin.php?page=configurationthemes
thanks!

Re: Change piwigo location/directory

page=configurationthemes doesn't exist either, hence the main admin dashboard is shown. It would be page=themes try to enter that manually in the browser's URL input. Something keeps prepending configuration to all page name queries.

manually entering what you suggested made the themes load. i guess something is not quite right under the hood, simply by renaming the installation folder?

all the admin links worked fine before renaming the installation folder. when i change the folder name back to the original installation name, i am getting the same results, of dead links. it is showing the word configuration in every link.
hmmm. now i am thoroughly confused.
thanks for helping out!

Re: Change piwigo location/directory

Looks like I am a lucky one (to able to rename the subfolder of my Piwigo installation without doing any harm to it nor losing admin functions). Now I am confused too... ;)

Re: Change piwigo location/directory

Not sure what happened. all i did was change the directory name, then change it back to the original name. now it is doing the same weird thing with the admin URL's even when it is back to the original name.
i am sure it is something easy in the sql database, but that is not my strong point in life. i am great at following directions, to get stuff done :)
thanks.

@simmyjellers

What is your browser? Is it Chrome?
I use Vivaldi which is built on Chromium (so different from Chrome but there are similarities, maybe same bugs) and I recently found two cases when it messed with some links/bookmarks/caches (so mystifying!).
Have you tried to use another browser than your current one?

In meantime I made some tests using my localhost test Piwigo installation (XAMPP is my friend on such occasions).
First I renamed the Piwigo subfolder to "asdfgh". Logged in. No hiccups while administering it.
Then I searched my sql database for "asdfgh" and made sure that it is nowhere there to be seen. Logged out.
Then I renamed the subfolder to "pictures". Logged in. Everything works for me as it should.

Relevant links are like
http://localhost/pictures/admin.php (Dashboard)
http://localhost/pictures/admin.php?page=cat_list (Albums | Manage)
http://localhost/pictures/admin.php?page=configuration (Configuration | Options)
http://localhost/pictures/admin.php?page=themes (Configuration | Themes)
Why it is any different at yours? Most puzzling!

BTW I am a firm believer in benefits of regularly purging browsers' caches and hard refreshing my browser. What is your stance on it?

i think i am back to normal. i use chrome mainly. i got myself back to my starting point by deleting and re-adding a fresh index file. something was different between the files and forcing all my links to have an extra "administration" in all the admin links.
i am back on track for right now.
thanks for all the great info above!

Fiddling with code and breaking things and not telling is a superb way to waste everyone's time.

Apologies to everyone. It is through mistakes that I learn, don't do it again, and maybe help others in the future that might make the same mistake.
Thank you.
