Piwigo.com doesn't accept video files (trial account)

Hello everyone,

I don't think this question has been asked before on the forum.
I noticed Piwigo.com doesn't accept video files with "Error: Invalid extension".
As allowed file types it only shows image extensions.
Also, the site doesn't offer the plugin (extension) Piwigo-videojs which I read might be needed to play videos.
Does anyone know if this is related to the fact that I'm on a trial account?
Maybe I missed some announcement at sign-up, but I don't think so?
Or is this something in configuration? And if so, what do I do to activate acceptance of video files?

Kind regards, tkrr

Ask piwigo.com, by mail.
The available features and options are different than with self hosted Piwigo.

Re: Piwigo.com doesn't accept video files (trial account)

Hello Katryne,

First of all, thanks for your response to my question!

I have contacted support and I'm waiting for a reply now.

Just to explain:

I understand that Piwigo.org (the software that you can self-host) and Piwigo.com (hosted version) are not entirely the same. The reason I'm asking here is that when I login to Piwigo.com, and I click the 'Help Me' link, I am told:
"If you have any question, Piwigo community will welcome you on its forum: http://piwigo.org/forum".
I had therefore hoped that an experienced Piwigo.com user would know the answer.
I might be wrong, but I have the feeling that most people here use the self-hosted version and are not aware of the fact that Piwigo.com users are directed to this forum.
Anyway, I will make a request for a separate forum section for Piwigo.com.

Kind regards, tkrr

Re: Piwigo.com doesn't accept video files (trial account)

I've signed up for a payed account with the hosted version Piwigo.com because I like it.
I am still waiting for an answer from Support to my question 'Does is support video?',

I can't find support for video in my account, also after changing to paid, except embedded it seems. That is strange because:
When you go to Piwigo.com > For Who? > Photographers & private users,
there is a button Learn more about features. This directs to https://piwigo.com/product .
That page states 'Host all of your photos, videos and digital files' with an item titled 'Many supported file formats'
which mentions as supported video formats MP4, MOV and OGG.

If anyone who reads this knows more about video support on Piwigo.com, please let me know!
If not, I'll come back here when I have an answer from support.

Re: Piwigo.com doesn't accept video files (trial account)

@ddtddt of Piwigo Team

Thanks for clarifying. Now I know why.

Yes, I've chosen Individual plan, as I'm an individual.
As far as I can see that is the only option for me.

I don't have a lot of video files (5-8 maybe bit more?),
but would like to keep in same place.

- Is there an option for this on Piwigo.com for individual users?
(if not, I would like the option to add video to Individual plan,
like a block that can be turned on/off, preferably scalable to GB need,
payed of course (I understand videos take up a lot more space).

I haven't looked at the EmbeddedVideos plugin yet,
but I suppose it won't connect to another cloud to
display video on Piwigo.com as if it was on Piwigo.

- The Individual plan's page indeed only mentions photos,
but if you click on the Features link on that page it does mention video
and even all kinds of other files!
This is not true, so can you change this on your pages?

Kind regards, tkrr

Support replied that the Features page is a general page and there are no plans to change it.
The Pricing Plans page will get a kind of comparison chart of features provided with each plan.
