Use selected text from web page as search term in Piwigo

Apologies if this is not the right place to post this question.

I have a Piwigo gallery on my website with photos of nature - flowers, butterflies, etc.  Each photo has a caption which includes the name of the species.  I have tables on my website that lists all the species for which there are photos in the gallery.  If someone wants to see all the photos of a species listed in the table, they could select and copy the name from the table and paste it into the Piwigo search box.  So, for instance , they could paste (or type) 'marsh marigold' in the Piwigo search and it will return all photos of marsh marigolds.  I would like to be able to just click on the name in the website table and bring up the photos from the gallery.  I guess I need some kind of script that will take the clicked text and use it to perform the search in Piwigo.  I hope that makes sense!

Can anyone help me, please?

Thanks.

Hello
you could register here and share your gallery with a link
You might use the tag/keywords : search for a name, add the pictures returned to the 'caddy' and go to the batch manager to add the keyword
How long is the list?

Re: Use selected text from web page as search term in Piwigo

Hello and sorry to answer a post that is 10 years old, but I've been searching for an answer for days and finally found a solution. Hopefully other people who search will find the answer here.

You can link to the quick search page with an URL like that:

https://your.domain.name/gallery/qsearch.php?q=QUERY

So in case of the table of butterflies, you could list links like this in your table -- the %20 replaces a space character.

<a href="https://your.domain.name/gallery/qsearch.php?q=marsh%20marigold">all pictures of Marsh Marygold</a>
