Here comes the second beta for Piwigo 15.
A) Changes
The search in gallery gets new filters: by ratings, by file size, by dimensions ratio, by height and by width.
New search filter by height (in pixels).
New search filter by dimensions ratio. Find portraits, squares or landscapes in a single click.
The album selector, introduced in version 13 receives important enhancements. First one: it always displays the hierarchy of albums. No need to perform a search.
Second addition on the album selector: ability to create a new album wherever you need.
About anonymous statistics sent to piwigo.org, we have already learned interesting things with beta1. In beta2, we add:
* "last added photo" datetime
* number of photos added by synchronization (and when was the last time). We want to know if this method to add photos is still used.
* list of file extensions hosted. We want to know if Piwigo is used for JPEG only, if HEIC are uploaded, if videos are often hosted...
Everything remains perfectly anonymous. piwigo.org does not receive data like the name of your files. Just the extension.
B) Improvements
Much smarter way to synchronize metadata from the batch manager. Instead of asking to synchronize blocks of 500 photos in parallel, we do it in a sequence, first block of 500, then second block and so on.
C) Start to beta test
Download Piwigo 15.0.0beta2
If you want to test but don't have the ability to install it, contact us.
Please, open a new topic in the beta testing forum for each problem you may encounter.
Happy beta-testing :D

That is the only method I use. :-)
and this is what we're trying to understand. You're certainly not the only one (even if I think you're a minority).

Love LOVE Piwigo, and just saw the news alert about the Beta versions. I thought I'd jump in with a big upvote for videos. Now that I know there's a beta, I'll spin up a test server. Funnily enough, I'd only just finished writing a full Ansible play for building a Piwigo server (including Apache, PHP, and MariaDB).
Love your work team!

same here!
BTW, love the product. Would hate to switch after using it for decades.

Oh, Yes, this is the ONLY method that I and my family uses. scp to upload and a cron script to sync+sort.
Please, do not remove this feature. The main reason is that a file-system hierarchy organized by Album_name/content/Year/date is the (in my view) only way to retain access to the photo alums once i am no longer around. My kids can pull the disk and find the pics. But if they have to crank up Linux, run Piwigo, understand MariaDB and some SQL - it would defeat the purpose of saving pics as part of my legacy...

I can only second this - I, too, love the product - and Video support would be awesome. VideoJS just doesn't work properly and has a bunch of quirks/fixes/issues since several years.
