stripy, in the plugin manager main page [Administration > Specials > Plugins], can you create 4 icons : install, activate, deactivate, delete. I would like to always display the 4 icons, but if the action is not possible for the current state of the plugin, I will display a non clickable greyscale version of the icon. I think action icons are more "user friendly" than text links.
What do you think of this proposition?

4 icons in Plugins Management: +1

+1

+1. I think they should be small (in height at least) like 16px - otherwise a long list of plugins might go ever several scrolling pages just because of that ...

Do you want 4 or 5 icons ?
Because i can read :
- install
- delete
- deactivate
- activate
- uninstall

Ok, then, I need to know, please, what is the difference between :
- deactivate
- uninstall
- delete
Thx.

- Deactivate: Plugin has been stopped, it can be restarted.
- Uninstall: All configuration parameters are deleted, you can expect to re-install like a first install.
- Delete: The directory is removed for the file server.

I suppose you want only the 'install' icon in greyscale,
because, it will always be possible to :
- activate
- deactivate
- uninstall
- delete
or ... ?

greyscales you can make them for all.
When you have to install: activate, deactivate and uninstall should be grey.
More delete doesn't uninstall plugins as well, so if uninstall is active, delete icon should be grey.
We could need grey.
BUT maybe not, P@t can also display only active icons.
Stripy & P@t,
Make your choice.
As we do on picture page could be better.
Anyway, could remove red cross and green cercle icons?
(Not really in line with other graphics).
Could we then display our new icons in the first or second column between plugin name and version? (Avoiding some potential mistakes).
8-)
In such case ... 10 icons.

I prefer display all icons (normal and gray)...
But I'll try both. So let's try 10 icons ;-)
I appreciated the plugin management with colored lines (in the last version of "Plugins Manager" compatible with 1.7.2)
It was artisiticaly ugly, you agree with that I'm sure, but very useful!
So if stripy find nice colors (taking into account we have a single theme for admin), I'm ok to recode this.

We will need 3 additional colors if we want to keep the distinction among 5 actions:
- install
- activate
- deactivate
- uninstall
- remove
Those colors will all have to be in the pink-orange-red scale.
I think having big colored lines will produce a too much "flashy" result, a bit "heavy".
And on the page "Other plugins" where the list runs on kilometers => :-/
