Move piwigo site from one host to another

I am not happy with the ftp download speeds I am achieving from my current hosting service (Webcity, Australia) so I would like to move my Piwigo site from Webcity to another hosting service.

What is the easiest way to do this? I did a Google search but couldn't find anything specific dealing with Piwigo.

Can someone please direct me to any documentation that would help me with this?

Thank you.

Did you take a look at the Hosting link in the Piwigo.org banner?

Re: Move piwigo site from one host to another

Yes, just now but I will look at the link in more detail soon.

The reason I want to change to another host is slow ftp download speeds from my current provider.

I'm on a cable modem and I can download a 134 MB file from Apple in 51 seconds at a transfer rate of 2654 KB/s. Yet with my current hosting service, I'm lucky to get between 400 and 600 KB/s. They told me my site shares a server with many other sites and that my download speed will vary.

So of the hosting companies mentioned in the link you supplied, which one will give me the fastest possible download speed via ftp?

I use Cyberduck in order to sync my site with my desktop Mac in case the site becomes corrupted. In fact, I think it was you plg that told me which folders to maintain on my local drive. It is excruciatingly slow doing this with such a slow transfer rate.

I would like to know the answer to this too.

I already have my new hosting company, but would like to know if there is a procedure/documentation for transferring everything from the old hosst to the new one. Something that shows everything that needs to be moved and/or reconfigured to get the site up and running again with the least amount of downtime.

Hi Darryl,

You just have to transfer the files from host1 to host2 and export database from host1 and import it on host2.

If database connection settings are different on host2, you'll have to edit these settings in local/config/database.inc.php

That's all. No specific need to be modified inside Piwigo.
